Yes, you can tilt the device itself to remedy this to some degree, but after doing this, to really adjust it properly, you end up with the screen tilted downward to an unacceptable degree for viewing.

I ended up using the window mount it came with, which was okay, but I do prefer a dash mount. However, even with the window mount the suction cup and the stem that connects to it was very visible on the screen, so that area is prominently visible with the video that is recorded. The main reason I returned it, though, was due to its poor traffic assistance. After turning it on, I would get a notification that it was checking for traffic information, which as stated on the screen, "may take a while".

It certainly did. I was usually about a third of the way home about ten minutes into my drive time when it would finally kick in. By that time I had passed the point of no return for my two routing options to get home, so it was fairly useless for my purpose. I did download the most recent map and software prior to using it. Note that the traffic updates were coming from the Garmin app through my cell phone. Once I loaded the Garmin app, it did an override on the HD digital traffic that it comes with that is received through the power cord, which BTW was also a bit sketchy.
